It Takes A Village!

Events are possible because of a supportive community. We find that people want to give back to their community, and simply need a call-to-action to do so.  Check out a few of our successes and Photo Albums!

Easter

Our 2022 annual Spaghetti Dinner raised funds to provide college scholarships to high school Key Club members.  It was a huge group effort.  Key Clubbers donated drinks and desserts.  Area merchants provided many generous door prizes.. 

​2024 Highlights

  • Raised and donated $1,900 to Asbury Park youth football for new uniforms, equipment and funds to travel to games and tournaments.

  • The Club established it's own team and raised $1,200 in support of community initiatives, including housing, homelessness and personal wellness at the 2024 Jersey Shore Ride for Food Justice.

  • Movie Afternoon at the Showroom on Cookman Ave. hosted approximately 25 boys, girls and family members to a super fun afternoon full of laughs, treats, popcorn and toys!

  • Lots of fun is had as children run, bike and "Play on Pine" Street in Asbury Park on Friday nights.  Hosted by Second Life Bikes, Kiwanis Club adds to the fun offering FREE snacks, drinks and activity books to all.

  • Built and placed Beach Toy Borrow Box on 2nd Ave. for kids to "borrow " toys, enjoy for the day and return them to the box for more kids.  Good for the environment too -- no toys left on the beach or in the ocean.

  • With literacy and education as top priorities, we awarded $3,000 in scholarships to four AP High School students, and we launched another Book Ark to high-spirited youth at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School.  Reading is our superhero was proudly chanted.

  • Bigger and better than 2023, EAT HERE NOW 2024 profits fund enrichment programs for Asbury Park youth who need us most. Featuring discounted dining at 43 restaurants, the $30 coupon booklet is valued at $500.

  • Our valued partnership with Asbury Park Little League has us on the field supporting our teams with equipment and uniforms as well as serving up great food at the big pancake breakfast!

  • Preparing rooms, building renovations, landscape refreshes and celebrating birthdays are a top priority in support of the amazing Covenant House.  Our members and volunteers bring their best for such an incredible cause.

  • Regular time spent at Mercy Center ensures they can keep the pantry open at times convenient for all in need. Our members and volunteers have no limits to helping where we are needed.

  • Our amazing partnership with Community Karma enables us to collect and offer toys, food and gift cards to needy families during the holidays.  And new school years are kicked off with backpacks full of goodies for youth of all ages.

  • We have a lot of time for our Bridge of Books Foundation partner, joining them during the year to sort, box and deliver books to schools for children of all ages. Youth literacy is HUGE.!

2023 Highlights

  • Proud to join forces with Community Karma, the 2023 Holiday Toy Drive provided food and toys to hundreds of underprivileged families and children.  Also donated 200+ pairs of socks to Bradley Elementary School.

  • 2023 Club Scholarships Program awarded $3,000 to four Asbury Park High School and Allied Health (Key Club) students to further the Club's commitment to youth literacy.

  • Socks for Tots. The winter will be a bit warmer as the AP Kiwanis Club collected and donated over 200 pairs of socks to Bradley Elementary - a local Asbury Park elementary school.

  • How great it was to sponsor our very own Asbury Park Little League team this year. The kids were super enthusiastic about new uniforms, equipment and a season ending banquet.

  • Jumped in to support the Covenant House effort to combat homelessness and offer safe housing to 16 - 21 year olds.  We supported (and will continue to support) services such as cleaning, house repairs, bedding, dinners and birthday celebrations.

  • Jersey Shore Arts Center hosted its 4th Annual Halloween Trunk or Treat.  Kiwanis Club of AP was on hand with two “trunks” loaded with candy and other tasty snacks.

  • Our largest fundraiser ever, EAT HERE NOW 2023 featured discounted dining coupons to 33 of Asbury Park's finest restaurants and cafes.  All proceeds support enrichment programs for the community's underserved youth.​

  • Hosted by Trinity Church AP,  Kiwanis Club of AP logged 100 miles and collected $1,400 in donations to support the Jersey Shore Ride for Food Justice.

  • Supporting such a great cause, Kiwanis Club of AP members helped Mercy Center distribute 1,400 yummy turkeys and dinner sides to AP families.

  • We proudly partnered with Asbury Park Little League and Community Karma to provide over 1,500  backpacks full of school supplies to Asbury Park youth of all ages. 

  • Sponsored Tween Tuesdays and Video Game Nights for valued 11+ year old youths to share and enjoy games, snacks, laughs and fun.

  • Project R.E.A.L. Awareness -- our lively event at the chic Destination Asbury Boutique raised $500 to support Project R.E.A.L – dedicated to supporting the local young LGBTQ+

2022 Highlights

  • 2022 Friendsgiving supported many wonderful Asbury Park families.  Hosted at Thurgood Marshall School, the event was presented by Kiwanis of Asbury Park and Asbury Park Little League.

  • The 2022 Holiday Toy Drive. Jointly sponsored by our Club and Community Karma -- made holiday dreams come true for over 160 families and countless children thanks to incredible volunteers and community members.

  • In cooperation with Bridge of Books Foundation, a Book Ark with over 1,000 children's books was placed at Bradley Elementary School in Asbury Park.  So proud to support youth literacy.

  • Asbury Park Street Cleanup included 20 volunteers picking up trash on the streets around Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. Frequented by children, these streets are cleaner than ever!

  • Our annual Spaghetti Dinner raised funds to provide college scholarships to Key Club members. Key Clubbers donated drinks and desserts. Area businesses provided door prizes.

  • #FeedAP.  In conjunction with Feed Your Neighbor - raised over $4,000 to purchase food that fed over 400 Asbury Park families!
