Literacy & Education RULE!

Reading Is Our Superpower

Thurgood Marshall Elementary School students chanted "Reading Is Our Superpower" as Kiwanis of Asbury Park and Bridge or Books Foundation unveiled a Book Ark with 1,000+ books to the entire student body. Smiles and chills came across the teachers and adults in attendance as we realized how important reading and books are to these hungry youth.  It was incredible.

Woodrow Wilson  Book Ark

The Rotary Club got in on the book ark fun, launching one at Woodrow Wilson Elementary in Neptune with help from Kiwanis AP Club.

Books for Bradley Elementary

In cooperation with Bridge of Books Foundation, Kiwanis AP is committed to aggressively promoting literacy across the community.  The book ark launched at Bradley Elementary School in Asbury Park is one example. Check out the Book Ark launch photo album and our news coverage by The Coaster.

Scholarships Pave the Way

As part of our literacy focus, we awarded $3,000 in scholarships to four impressive Asbury Park High School and Allied Health (Key Club) students.

Applications were submitted and reviewed.  As difficult as it was, we selected four amazing high school students. Congratulations on your road to great things.

A Shared Focus - Books!

Ranney School Key Clubbers and AP Kiwanis members joined Bridge of Books foundation to sort, box and distribute books to local schools. This has become an ongoing initiative that needs help from anyone willing to give it.  Kiwanis AP is there!
